(publication in progress)
I am a 2026 graduate of the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate program at UCLA. I earned a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education - Japanese from the University of Hawaii, spent three years of study abroad, and earned a Master of Arts degree from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. After a career in the corporate world, I rediscovered my passion for teaching. I have been teaching Japanese classes in person and online, and recently completed a book, " Eight Magical Japanese Verbs - A Novel Approach to Learning Japanese."
My aspiration is to continue my passion. Inspiring learners is what motivates my passion! I am excited to explore the world of TESOL, inspire speakers of other languages, and expand my horizons as a teacher!
In the links above, feel free to learn more about my background, professional goals, and teaching philosophy. My teaching style is a hybrid approach which combines different models ~ authoritarian, authoritative, permissive, and indulgent. I want to provide structure to coursework, engage students, diversify activities, and facilitate learning ~ a combination of teacher-centered and student-centered activities. Through experience, I hope to continuously improve my teaching style and find new ways, strategies, and lessons learned to fuel my passion for teaching!
